Proposed Web Filter Criticized in Australia

SYDNEY — The Australian government plans to test a nationwide Web filtering system that would force Internet service providers to block access to thousands of sites containing questionable or illegal content, prompting cries of censorship from advocacy groups.

Remember all the hoo-ha during the Olympics over China's internet censorship? Well, congratulations, Australia, we're about to help make that level of nannyship look normal. Astonishingly, we are about to adopt a similar regime here. Why? How? Those questions almost defy rational answers. Get off your posterior and do something while you still have the chance.
